Jeep Grand Wagoneer Wheels for Firmer Grip on The Road
Updated: Jul 6, 2021
Long before the term SUV was even coined, Jeep Grand Wagoneer was one of the first sport-utility vehicles. Whenever people think about Jeep Grand Wagoneer, the SJ models props up in mind. These SJ models were both Jeep Wagoneer and Jeep Grand Wagoneer, 4x4 vehicles, created with stylish design and loaded with luxury features.
The Wagoneer was similar to the Jeep Gladiator with a full-size body on frame and was introduced as a replacement for the Willys Jeep Station Wagon. It had passenger car comfort and styling, with a rear-wheel-drive. In the later years, four-wheel drive was introduced and was outfitted with independent front suspension and automatic transmission, with solid axels and a manual transmission.
When AMC took over from Kaiser Jeep Corporation, in 1971, numerous changes took place to the Jeep Wagoneer and Grand Wagoneer. These changes included Quadra-Trac four-wheel-drive system, power-disk brakes, power windows and locks, power-adjustable seating, gas-filled shock absorbers, cruise control, and many other changes. Through these changes, created a smoother ride and helped reduced vibration and noise.
The design in the vehicles was updated to entice the youth too. Changes in the designs included a new grille and fender, wood-grain paneling, interior upgrades. Additionally, AMC made changes on the last models which included power rear window, tinted windows, adjustable tilt steering wheel, roof rack, leather upholstery, premium speakers, chrome gilley, and fog headlamps.
While many ignore the wheels in a vehicle, going only by the interior and exterior. But the wheels and tires are important components of any vehicle. Keeping this fact in mind, the AMC fitted 15-inch alloy wheels fitted into Jeep Grand Wagoneer Wheels as they don’t tend to lose shape during cornering. The allowed wheels were better than the steel wheels since they increase the mileage and hence do not break easily. Also, as compared to steel, the aluminum/nickel alloy is much lighter and makes for better acceleration resulting in more agile performance. As a result of which it put less strain on the suspension of the vehicle and faster acceleration leading to firmer grip on the road that increases the ability to maneuver and handling the Jeep.
